Lucille Ball Interviewed By Her Good Friend Johnny Carson

The iconic Lucille Ball appeared on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson’ in 1974. Johnny introduces Lucille by recounting how they had been good friends for quite some time.

Lucille skips out in a purple suit and gives Johnny a big hug. After she sits down, Johnny reaches over to touch her soft clothing, and she sternly says, ‘Don’t touch me!’ Johnny laughs with her.

Lucille tells Johnny how she watches the show every time it’s on. She comments on his strange group of guests who frequent the show. Lucille tells Johnny that she’d throw a fit if she ever missed a broadcast.

Johnny asks her if she buys a lot of clothes in reference to Lucille’s purple velvet suit. She says, ‘Do I? I make all my clothes!’ Johnny laughs, but he doesn’t buy it! He even mimics her struggling to knit.

Lucille tells Johnny that her show ‘I Love Lucy’ didn’t have complicated fashion, but now she has to really think about what she is going to wear. Lucille said she had to go to an international clothing store to get the material to make clothes for events like her appearance on ‘The Tonight Show.’

Lucille Ball was a fantastic actress, comedian, singer, and producer who was nominated for 13 Primetime Emmy Awards, winning five times. She even has two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and she’s basically received every lifetime achievement award there is for TV.

Lucille started her career in 1929 as a model and later became a star on Broadway. She appeared in movies in the 1930s and 1940s before marrying Desi Arnaz in 1940. In 1951, the legendary sitcom ‘I Love Lucy’ debuted. Johnny loves and respects Lucille, which comes through in his interview with his good friend.
