Parents Furious After Their Son Is Punished For Calling Teacher ‘Ma’am’

Teretha Wilson and McArthur Bryant did everything they could to raise their 10-year-old Tamarion to respect his elders by calling them “ma’am” and “sir.” That’s why they were livid to learn that their son had been punished for doing just that at school!

Teretha and McArthur had their son moved to a different classroom at Northeast Carolina Preparatory School in Tarboro, North Carolina after they learned that he was punished for calling his teacher “ma’am.” Tamarian told them that he continued to call his teacher “ma’am” despite her requests not to and was told to write the word “ma’am” written on a piece of paper four times per line on both sides as a punishment.

“He had a look on his face of disappointment, shame,” McArthur said. “At the end of the day as a father, to feel kind of responsible for that…knowing that I have been raising him and doing the best that I can, it’s not acceptable.”

Teretha added that her son had recently been in the hospital for seizure-related activity and had been suffering from memory loss and hallucinations. She was even more furious to learn that the teacher had told Tamarion during the encounter that “if she had something, she would have thrown it at him,” which the parents said the teacher admitted when they met with her and the principal the next day.

“It wasn’t right,” Teretha said. “It wasn’t professional. As a teacher, it wasn’t appropriate.”

McArthur would now like to warn other parents about situations like this one.

“If it happened to my son, I’m pretty sure if not a week, a day, a month, a year, it will occur to somebody else’s child,” he said.

It’s despicable that this young man was punished for having manners! SHARE this story so your friends and family can see this as well!
